That Transformers Movie

Hey folks, just got back from watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Here's my thoughts on the flick:

It was fun.

There's really not that much more to say on the matter. There were explosions, Megan Fox's bosoms, and a crotchety old Decepticon with a badass beard made of shredded metal. If you were expecting anything more than that, something along the calibre of Star Trek or Dark Knight even, that's your problem. Truth of the matter is, this film did what it set out to do and it was entertaining. Who cares if it was dumb? If you jump into your nearby time machine and check out the old cartoon, you'll notice that the plots aren't much different and the characters aren't that much more fleshed out.

I've got this sneaking suspicion that a lot of people expect way too much from these movies and all I really have to say to that is that this movie is based off of a set of action figures that spawned a cheesy cartoon series. Just sit back and be entertained. It's not going to be an oscar contender or on any top 10 lists, but it's a good way to spend the afternoon!

I saw it. meh. don’t need to buy it.

so far, this has been an ok summer movie season. nothing that really stands out above anything else.

I’m not expecting anything of it. My problem is that some jackass decided it HAD to be “bad ass” and so now we have these fucking god awful designs, when there was nothing wrong with the originals.

@tim Yeah, it wasn’t great and it wasn’t terrible either. There were some exciting action sequences and I felt like I had gotten my money’s worth in the end. So yeah. Definitely not a future purchase of mine, but it was certainly a decent film to see at least once and has added to the overall experience of summer movies this year, which haven’t been all too terrible.

@Tom Actually, there was a scene in the movie I thought you might enjoy. Basically, a whole bunch of decepticons piece themselves together into one giant bot (the one you see in the trailer sucking up all the sand in the end). It’s a pretty sweet scene actually, and I thought of you as it unfolded.

That said, there’s quite a bit of stuff in this film you’re probably going to hate, like the jive-talking autobots that serve as the racist comedic relief. The main villain, The Fallen, is pretty cool and there’s a cranky old autobot you might find cool.

But yeah, if you’re curious enough, the film is definitely worth the $6 matinee price.
