Capsule Anime Reviews
Well, not much of interest to talk about this week in terms of visual media... At least on my end. So I figured I would put up some quick capsule reviews of recent anime I have been watching:

Gurren Lagann: Nothing sums this up better than the term "over the top". With an interesting plot, exceptional character development, and fun, drill-themed robots, this show is a must watch. Trust me, it is the most epic thing you will ever see.

Infinite Ryvius: Essentially Lord of the Flies in space. The kids desperately try to maintain order in a situation where the concept of society falls apart. Though plagued by some pacing problems in the first half, and the arguably unnecessary action sequences with the Vital Guarder, this show builds and builds tension. Slightly flawed, but highly recommended.

Future Grand Prix Cyber Formula: Classic early 90's sci-fi racer. While it does take a handful of episodes to get up to snuff, and while it does have some obnoxious, unnecessary detours in the plot (Fireball Race, anyone?), this is a fun show. Hayato Kazami goes through some good character development, and while there is never any doubt about who will win the World Grand Prix, the journey is full of sharp turns and straighways.

Fafner: Currently watching this. At the halfway point, all I can say is that it has potential, but some of the exposition is hard to follow. The worst problem with the show is it's god awful character designs. They suck. THEY SUCK! The Festum and the Fafners all look cool tho. Hopefully this show will pick up, because what's there is fairly interesting.
There ya have it.
